Who we are

FOHCUS is an occupational healthcare company with offices in Lancaster, Liverpool, Wigan and Wirral.

Our role is to assist employers to reduce the costs that they incur through ill health, accidents and absenteeism.

We screen, monitor and evaluate employees health and help improve workplace practices.

What we do

Fohcus works with organisations to ensure that their workforce is both productive and healthy.

Our team of Occupational Health, Physiotherapy and Psychology experts help employers by providing them with the information required to have control over absence and poor performance, and to deal with tactical issues; for example, employees who are in work but not productive due to health reasons.

We assist with strategic issues ranging from the development of workplace protocols for injury prevention, to ensure that our customers are obtaining maximum benefit from the new Statement of Fitness for Work.

It is our role to establish what health issues may be affecting an employee’s ability to work; therefore we provide immediate access to health advice and treatment solutions to ensure lost time is minimised.

We also provide health advice and information to employers and their employees on how to keep healthy and prevent future health problems that may affect their productivity.

Adrian Mercer

Managing director with over 20 years experience of clinical delivery and management of health needs of individuals and employees. Formed and developed companies in a variety of industries and has broad expertise in company management.

Clinical Team

Angela Mackay-Fowler

Angela is  an Occupational Health Adviser with over  25 years’ experience in Occupational Health in a variety of different sectors including Engineering, Manufacturing, Retail, Nuclear, Higher Education, Local Authority and NHS settings and Hospice settings.
Her role involves the undertaking of complex Case Management, health surveillance, work place assessments, immunisation and vaccination programmes, health promotion and wellbeing advice. Angela also provides clinical supervision and training to other OH nurses within the business and works with other organisations to better manage mental illness in the work place e.g. workshops for employees and managers re work place stress. She is a Registered Nurse and a Specialised Community Public Health Nurse – OH

Deborah Lewis

Occupational Health Advisor with a wealth of nursing experience and a keen interest in absence management.

Penny Cox

Occupational Health Advisor, Penny is an experienced RGN who has been with FOHCUS for a number of years. She is often out of clinic performing health surveillance but is also interested in absence management.

Astrid Gibbs

Astrid has over 16 years of Occupational Health experience as an Occupational Health Advisor. She has a first class honours degree in Occupational Health nursing and is SCPHN qualified. She has experience of working in a variety of occupational sectors, including local authority, manufacturing, nuclear and pharmaceuticals.

Jane Thomson

Jane Thomson is an Occupational Health Advisor with a wealth of nursing experience in a variety of settings.  Jane primarily provides health surveillance clinics and has a keen interest in health promotion.
Jane is a registered nurse with a diploma in occupational health nursing.

Admin Team

Jonathon Marsden

Service Manager. Jonny is there to ensure the service runs well. From initial enquiries through to bookings and invoices, he provides an excellent contact point.

Claire Harman

Occupational Health Administrator. Claire is an experienced administrator who has worked in the healthcare sector for a number of years. She inputs the health surveillance clinics and produces the certificates along with booking appointments for the adhoc case management clinics.

Sarah Mulliner

Occupational Health Secretary and Administrator with over 25 years experience within the medical and health field. An experienced typist producing occupational health reports and health surveillance certificates for clients, as well as providing general admin support.
