Lead Assessments
Lead is often found in construction workplaces and can be present in older buildings, for example, within the paint or pipework.
Lead is absorbed by the body when you breathe or swallow, and it can circulate in the body for many years without making someone ill. If the level of lead in the body gets too high, it can cause serious health problems such as anaemia or kidney disease. Published research has even linked lead exposure to several occupational cancers.
The Control of Lead at Work (CLAW) Regulation 2002 states that businesses must protect their employees against the risks from lead.
If you’re concerned about the potential threat of lead exposure to your employees, contact FOHCUS Occupational Health. We have an expert team of physicians, advisors and occupational health technicians who can help.
