Vision Testing
There’s no evidence to prove that display screen equipment (DSE) causes permanent damage to the eyes, but long spells of DSE have been linked to tired eyes, discomfort, temporary short-sightedness, and headaches.
By law, employers must arrange an eye test for DSE users if they ask for one and provide glasses if an employee needs them only for DSE use.
As well as office workers who regularly use computers, it’s advised that van drivers, forklift truck drivers, company car drivers and close inspection workers have regular vision testing.
At FOHCUS, we offer vision testing as part of our health surveillance services. Vision testing normally takes between 10 to 15 minutes and includes an assessment of distance, middle and near vision as appropriate, referral to an optician if needed, and counselling where necessary.
